91 firebird security probs

i recently bought a 91 firebird from an impound lot. naturally it had no keys, so i bored out the ignition. i can get it to roll from acc. all the way to start, however, it has a vipersecurity system plus two white wires going to the lock cylinder. how the hell can i start this thing???

Re: 91 firebird security probs

going by you saying theres 2 white wires it sounds to me like there is a VATS security system stock in that car. there are ways to bypass it but as far as i know you have to know the resistance that its set at, the dealer might be able to tell you but im not positive on that

Threads merged for duplication

I thought the problem was with the Viper system :dunnoL If it's vats, you need to know the resistance amount of the key that it used to use. OR, there's a thread here by 'Malletslinger' that discusses a aftermarket bypass system.

Re: 91 firebird security probs

im telling u guys..saudering the chip into the system itself works better than the resister thing..its perfect! i had the resisters at first and u know what, it was good for a year then it started messing up again...using the chip in your key is the best and cheapest way...u dont have to buy anything.

Re: 91 firebird security probs

tried the resistor trick, worked like a charm. i found a list of resistor values for the car and made all 15, then just process of elimination. took half hour but worked great!!!!
