engine cut-out

I have a 92 regal 3800 limited. A couple months ago my engine completely died while driving along at about 80 km/hr. Afterwards it started right up and I had no problems till about a week ago. This time it dies again and wouldn't start at all. I waited about 15 min and it fired up again, so I drove about 300 yds and it died again. It doesn't sputter or shake or anything, it just dies and gives no warning. I had a mechanic look at ti and he said there were hundreds of codes that came up. He figured the motor was dead but it starts up and the motor sounds fine and hasn't lost any power. I think he was wrong about that. Has anyone had the same problem and how did you fix it? I need help.

Wink Re: engine cut-out

The first thing you need to do is, get the car to a reputable ASE Certified mechanic!

They will know how to check for spark & fuel when it “dies”. If no fuel, suspect the fuel pump, relay, or the fuel filter. If no spark, suspect the crank position sensor (CPS), or the ignition control module (ICM), or associated wiring.

And last, but not least, if your mechanic was right and he did see "hundreds of codes", suspect that your mechanic was drunk and seeing double!

BTW, the 92 Regal did not have "hundreds of codes" to display!
