96 Ply Voyager misfiring on #2 #5
Have a 96 Ply. Grand Voyager...I am getting no spark on #2 & #5...replaced coil pack, camshaft sensor, & crankshaft sensor...not sure what to do now. What could be the problem? I even had my new ignition coil pack checked..and It checked out fine. My Spark plugs are new...and the wires tested fine. I am getting fed up!!! Help.

Re: 96 Ply Voyager misfiring on #2 #5
Inspect the wire harness from the coil pack to the Powertrain Control Module, specifically the the dark blue with tan stripe wire that fires the coil for both #2 & 5 cyclinders. Could be a broken or weak wire or loose/corroded/pushed contact on the connector. You may need a new PCM.

I've been chasing the same problem and for laughs I checked the fuel pressure. 35psi. It's suppose to be 49! I'm going to see if I get lucky with the filter. I'll keep ya posted.
P.S. I didn't look at fuel pressure originally due to the 2 & 5 codes. |

Hope I'm wrong but you'll probably find the pump as the cause for the low pressure. These filters are designed to last the life of the vehicle. That's way they are bigger than your average filter. That said, if you're in there changing the pump anyway, you might as well change the filter since they are mounted side buy side. My logic (???) is telling me if the pump was causing the misfires you should have seen a P0300 random misfire code and not just the P0302 and 305 codes. Again, hope I'm wrong.

Re: 96 Ply Voyager misfiring on #2 #5
Changed fuel pump and filter and now the fuel pressure is where it is suppose to be, 50 psi. Van runs good cold but will cut out/miss once warmed up. P300, 302, 305. New coil pack installed. Seems heat related.....but is it PCM, cam sensor, crank sensor??? Engine will miss/backfire into intake violently when you really push the gas.

Re: 96 Ply Voyager misfiring on #2 #5
IT'S FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Embarrassingly easy repair. Checked the resistance of the plug wires, especially 2 and 5, number 2 had infinite resistance. DUH!!! Put a used wire on it and it's running great. Sometimes we look too hard and neglect the easy stuff |
