HELP (98 windstar) TCC won't lockup at hot???
1) After 15 mins of driving, my torque converter clutch won't lockup and the O/D light starts blinking.
2) After 15 mins of driving, I get really hard shifts from 1st to 2nd and the O/D light starts blinking. I believe the problem is that something's getting hot (trans fluid?, range sensor?) because everything works great the first 15 mins of driving. I changed trans filter, fluid, and flushed trans cooler with no success. My old fluid did smell a little burnt. I'm going to replace the range sensor next because I'm out of ideas. Any smart folks out there got any advice/ideas? Thanks and much appreciation. |

Re: HELP (98 windstar) TCC won't lockup at hot???
Stay in touch, I'm suddenly having similar symptoms on my '99 (215k miles). Even if I select "OD off", I get the blinking "OD off" light and "check transmission" message in a few miles. Fluid has been OK in level and appearance.
Heretofore, the tranny fluid has run very "clean" ... almost no metal on magnet traps, or black residue left in pan when fluid has been change. Eager to read of your success with range sensor changeout. |

I haven't yet ... too many things going on ... but I agree, that's what's needed.
