95 DOHC SC2 engine swap.... will newer engines fit?
I have a 95 saturn and started driving it a little less than a month now and before i started driving it, i filled it up with oil. yesterday, the engine seized up on me and now im screwed. the engine was bone dry of oil! i dont understand; no leaks or anything. just was wondering if a later model saturn engine will fit in a 95 dohc sc2. please help, FAST!

Re: 95 DOHC SC2 engine swap.... will newer engines fit?
i think 93-early 99 engines will fit, maybe only til 97, check the manifold bolt pattern and reuse the 95 sensors. with 96 and later engines you will lose the second coolant temp sensor for the gauge, you can have a professional drill and tap the head, or some replace part of the radiator hose with a metal tube and place the sensor there.

Don't forget to check your oil next time.
Saturns need it like Barney needs Duff Beer.

will a 94 SL2 fit? right now i got a sweet deal waiting for me. im almost positive it will, but if so, are there any advantages over the 95 sc2?

Re: 95 DOHC SC2 engine swap.... will newer engines fit?
forgot something, on the 94 the EGR valve maybe different(vaccum controlled) you would need to reuse the 95 head, or try to find an adaptior plate that was used on 94 DOHC engines with californa emissions to fit the electric EGR to the vacuum EGR head. theres a small chance the donor 94 will already have it
