Firebird coolant leak

1995 Firebird 3.4L V6 leaking coolant from (as best as I can tell) behind the crankshaft pulley. Is this something that's fairly cheap to fix, or is it going to cost a second mortgage?

Re: Firebird coolant leak

I would believe you're leaking from the water pump then, right above the crank.

i had the same problem, i found out that one of those hoses were loose and i just tightened it and it stopped leaking. Might not be this, but check anyway.

Re: Firebird coolant leak

check the weep hole, the hole on the bottom part of the water pump, if it is wet with coolant, the interior seal is bad and you need a new one... its medium level fix, i believe you have to remove the drivebelt and alot of brackets and stuff around it...

Re: Firebird coolant leak

Best bet is water pump. Mine was doing that, but in my case both the water pump and hoses were bad. The seal was gone on my pump, so i changed it and it leaked less. Then i changed my hoses and that fixed it once and for all.
