Exclamation mech stumpped 2000 centry no start

I am working on a 2000 buick century 3.1 with a no crank condition. Hopefully another mechanic can help me with the following info. I try to turn the key and in the run position it has power but when I go to the start position everything goes dead. (had the same problem with my blazer it was the battery) However on the buick I have checked every fuse 3x and swaped relays. I can use my power probe to get the starter to crank on the "S" terminal or the starter relay but it just shuts right off and yes I have the key in the run position as I try it. Naturally I think it is the IGN switch ...changed it, no luck so I put the old one back in. I checked the neutral saftey switch by putting it in gear and trying to start the starter with my probe it didn't. I know that switch is good. It isn't the battery cause I tried it with jumpers on the battery and then on just the cables off the battery, same thing. So now I am stumped and of course the haynes book doesn't help much but I do read about a starter enable relay (I assume I checked it as long as it is a regular relay in the hood compartment and not hidden in a place I am not aware of. But what would allow me to start the starter with my probe in run but not allow the engine to stay running (It doesn't seem to be dying from fuel shutting off it seems to be between the ign switch and the starter. Oh yeah I also checked the fuseable link on the wire off the starter. All this and still square one. Any help from the many great minds out there would be greatly appreciated.

Does the security lite stay on during this event, if so this is a Passkey problem.

I do remember seeing the light on in the run position but in the start position everything goes dead. If the passlock has a problem is there anything a small shop mechanic can do or does it have to go to the dealer. Is there a relearn procedure?

Try leaving the key in the run position w/doors closed for 15 min.,
You may have to repeat this up to 3 times.

Click Here for some good info that may help you understand how the PASSKey system works, or why it don't work!
