Driver error?

'99 Maxima (5SPD) vs G35 4DR (auto), both cars with 4 people inside. Coming home from AC yesterday the roads were pretty empty at 3AM so we decided to have some fun. Honestly, I thought he would've taken me but surprisingly that wasn't the case. We went a few times from 50mph, which is approx 3200rpms for me in 3rd, until we shut down at about 100-110. I walked him most of those times . I was really surprised I was able to do that, Im sure if we kept going he would eventually pass me though...

Re: Driver error?

Well this could be a tough one. I would like to say driver error, but it was an auto so unless he hit the wrong pedal I dunno...

If I'm not mistaken your car has 190/205 and weighs in at 3001lbs and it looks like an 03 G35 has 280/270and weighs in at 3336.

Unless all of the people that were in your car are a buck twenty-five or so and the people in the G35 were 300 a piece I would thing that G35 would have walked you pretty good..

Anything can happen on the street...sweet kill....

Re: Driver error?

the g35 sedan's only make 260 hp but weigh 3400 lbs, which is 500 lbs more than a 4th gen 5 speed maxima. those maxima's are pretty light. the registration for my 95 5 speed maxima had it listed at 2895 lbs, the automatics i believe weigh 3000 lbs or so. plus it may have been a G35X which is AWD and even heavier and you have the advantage of less power loss through the drive train since the max is FWD. i'm not really that surprised that you got him.

Re: Driver error?

jeepgclwj, thanks, this is the first kill I can be proud of and brag about.

BP2K2Max, I asked my friend and he said it is a G35X so I guess his AWD helped me out .

But like I said, I'm sure if we kept going he would eventually overtake.

Re: Driver error?

It's an auto. But good for racing. I have a problem between 1 and 2 that gives me the fastist gear change I have ever seen in an auto, but only when I mash the gas.
