Question BA Falcon Xt

With regards the comment of the BA being "frickin Awful", I cant really comment but to say that 182 kws off the rack , as opposed to 152 for the upcoming yy commodore (is yy short for Why,why bother?) seems to be a major jump forwards as does tiptronic gearbox available out of the box across the range . I think I remember control blade suspension being mentioned and this comes from the Focus and mondeo wagons , this is available in all models I think with the exception of the ute, I am prepared to give the car more than a chance and expect Holden dealers to have somewhat lean times with fleet buyers until the GM modular quad cam V6 becomes available. Obviously dropping their pants on price is the easy option as well as some package enhancements i.e. alloy wheels, climate air maybe. We shall see how they react. I hope Ford do the selling as well as they do the building of such cars as Mondeo etc. The interior of the falcon certainly looks tighter and I dont think you can lose your wallet down the dashboard seams anymore. That was one of the biggest leaps forward when the Mondeo 02 model was launched and seems to be designed into the Australian car.

The extra jump in power for the falcon comepensates for the extra 150kg it gains over the AU.

Talking sales

I have heard something, regarding to the sales of the new BS vs VY!

apparently last month Falcon was out sold 2 to 1 in favor of the VY!

and holden dealers cant get enough VY's to sell!

so the race is on FORD!

C U at the finishing line!

I am willing to bet my house that the BA outdoes the VY in the New Zealand market- not this year (Too little time)- But in 2003

There is big hoo-haa surrounding the BA- but not much focus on the VY- Quite frakly the VY is forgettable

Ford isn't capable of producing more cars than Holden at the moment. Their production line isn't big enough. So I don't think Ford will overtake Holden in sales before the all new VZ comes out in 2004.

Hasn't the transformation and salvage of Falcon's public image through BA been astounding? Ford have aced the competition with 240 base-model horsepower (who said that performance doesn't sell?) and their low performance era of XF-on boredom-mobiles is finally over. At least Ford's back in the hunt now and has a sales momentum to build on.

No idea if it's true but someone mentioned that XR6's currently make up almost 50% of BA's production

And I'm not surprised the BA is outselling the VY - you can't even get in a BA! VY launched here and available and yet I haven't been invited to jump into a BA yet despite the dealer usually bending over backwards to get me into the drive programs for the new Falcon usually...

And judging from the number of folk I know who are in a position to actually fork out or have their company fork out for a new car - the BA XR6T is yielding a lot of interest but we're all waiting to actually hope in one of the things...

The XT looks on paper to be a good value and I have to say - first impressions are the the BA is a lot more pleasant on the eye than the unloved AU.

I remember being impressed by the EA many years ago the moment I saw the car compared to the XF and VL @ the time. I was also very impressed with the VT even more when the AU was around. The first time I saw the AU the form didn't do anything for me... and the Monaro is a nice piece of kit too although I don't like the HSV GTO - the body kit is friggin' awful...

Your not alone on the HSV GTO replicant :apuke:

but I think I have said it before- the BA does lose out to the VY in the visual impact department- but the AU is just a better all-rounder.

I'd give my left nut for an XR6 Turbo and both of them for the new Falcon GT thats coming up :licker:

I'm guessing the new 5.4 V8 is the same Ford Triton one used in the F150

whats wrong with the HSV GTO?

i also think they could have done more for the FORD GT i think it needs some more spice. it just looks like a XR6T which is nice dont get me wrong its just for a top line car, It needs something else. A bit more radical i wouldnt say HSV radical but something to make it look even better.

But hell i want a maloo.

The BA is not outselling the VY. Bad info there.
