Bid on this one on eBay countless times and lost. Walked into a hobby shop in town that I haven't been to in 20 years, and there were 2 of them NIB on the shelf. I also got the white LeMans version as well. And about 5 other models. Damn LHS! Both have the warped chassis but this one is workable. The white version is going to be curbside for sure!

The completed chassis:

Closeup of the wheel. The nuts were painted silver than Testors stop light red (clear metallic).

Some cockpit detail:

Engine detail:

This body was originally painted with a duplicolor enamel, but I was quite heavy handed with the application. I stripped it in brake fluid and had to reputty. I'll probably paint it with X1 or try the spray paint with a lighter touch!

Let me know what you think!

Here are a few more shots.

Here are the rims for the white LeMans version since I don't have a WIP for that one. The gold is testors enamel in the small glass jar. Probably the best gold I've used. The silver is Testors silver, brushed on. Decals are a disaster. Might try spraying the tires with satin and see if it helps.

Re: The History Channel Porsche GT1-EVO

i found one the other day at lobby hobby and purchased one for 10 dollars, but when i opened, the body was out of line. Probabily being swooshed in that box for a while. But there were so many parts....

They are all like that. I have 3 of them, and each is warped the same way. You can see in the pictures with the primed body how the front half flares out from the back half. Usually the chassis is twisted the opposite direction, just to make it more challenging!

When I glued up the tub and roll cage I was able to almost completely straighten it out. One wheel is a little off the ground, but it can be coaxed back down when the body is glued on.

You found it at a hobby lobby? Was it back in the clearance aisle or something?

I don't know if you have seen this before, and it may help you in some way. Here is a top gear testdrive of a test mule GT1. Enjoy

Don't know if it will help, but it will be fun to watch. I can't find it now, but someone here made that test mule. I believe it is shown on SMS's website in the CF section.

Found the car: CF template making and SMS gallery

I think I could survive with only 3 channels on TV. Discovery, TLC and History Channel.

Re: The History Channel Porsche GT1-EVO

Small update. Had a disaster with the paint. After spraying the clear, it lifted the black in some spots. I let it dry for 24hrs then wetsanded the whole body with 2000. Luckily there was enough paint to sand down the lifted/crinkled areas. Body is now smooth as glass but dull. After decals dry for another day, I'll clear it. To be safe, I'm going to use X-22 clear. I've had enough problems with this body. I just want to be done....

Looks nice. Interesting livery. I have never seen this being actually built.
