so what IS the deal with the knock sensor?

So here's the story... my 94 altima gxe 5 speed speedometer and odometer recently died on me... the RPM needle is fine. So i did the self diagnostic on the car and got a code for VSS (i expected that one) but ALSO got a code for the knock sensor (code 34?)

From what i have read, people tend to ignore the knock sensor code... the part is rather expensive for the knock sensor, and i just spent 70 bux ordering a new VSS to drop in... should i replace the knock sensor as well or clear the codes and ignore it???

Re: so what IS the deal with the knock sensor?

I would install the VSS, clear the codes and see if the knock sensor code comes back. Some times the knock sensor code will show up with another code and go away when the other code is repaired. I have two Nissans and every time I have had a EVAP problem I get the knock sensor code.
Knock sensors are cheap on ebay.
