2002 grand am 2.2L help please

hello,
I am thinking about getting this grand AM se 2.2L engine, with manuel transmission for $5200. I think the dealer would reduce the price a little bit more. the car is in good condition. checked the shocks & found no leaks.. engine looks very clean: may b the dealer might have cleaned it.
Please post whatever you think.
I am going to make the decision in next 12 hours. So, please reply!

Thanks so much!
ernesto821

EDIT: i already got the car. but, help me solve some issues in last post please.

Re: shall i get this one? 2002, 2.2L, 51k miles, manuel

i went to the dealer again this morning but they said they didn't say that it was 5200! they want 6000 now that guy is crazy! he was not saying that they changed the price, but, he said he didn't say 5200. both my friend and I remembered that he did say 5200.

Check Kelly Blue Book For a price quote in your area.

Then the only thing is you can nit pick every little detail that is wrong with the car.
Honestly I would not give more then $4500-5000 for a 2000 4 cyl GA, though that is my opinion on used cars.....

Re: shall i get this one? 2002, 2.2L, 51k miles, manuel

i've just got the car and so confused about its features. i didn't have a remote control with it, so, i was trying to figure out how to lock when i get out of the car the locks unlock when i turn the key to off. but, i won't get it to lock unless i manually reach over to passenger side and lock it then, do the same thing for the driver side & close the doors. is there any way to lock it easier??? the way i was locking works fine but, i think it shouldn't need to be like that... please helppp

EDIT: i figured how to lock it properly LOL, i pressed lock when the door is open, then, close the door. it locks itself after a while. now, i got another problem. the handbrake light doesn't light up although my handbrake was engaged. it did light up when i start to turn on the key though. but, it wouldn't show if my handbrake is engaged. is it a easy thing to get fixed? could anyone plz tell me how???

yea the ebrake light doesnt stay on all the time or your battery would drain.

Also thiers other settings for your auto locks.
See here ... Programing Automatic Door Locks

Good Luck with your Purchase.
Btw Was that $5800 with a warranty ?

the e-brake light doesn't come on at all even though my e-brake is engaged...
i think it's wierd/not normal

for warranty,
yes and no LOL
one month warranty, but, it cover only major parts. & 50% of the cost only. they said they do it for 5700 but, they charge me 100 for document fee. they might not charge that docs fee if the car price was 5800, who knows? but, i really liked the car. it's in a very good condition the engine is very clean although it might be because the dealer cleaned it. shocks have no leaks or anything.

could you tell me what you think about the price? 5800+tax?

timing chain?

could u tell me how often does that need to be replaced? i read on another forum about a brand new grand am breaking timing chain at 23k miles. on my previous car, dodge neon, i had 126k miles on it and the timing belt is still working fine. & it looks like in good condition when i checked through the hole in belt cover. how could a chain break at 23k miles when a belt last about 126 k miles ??? i hope it is not the case with my car
