I just wanted to say hi! this is my first post on my best freinds well sorta new site. me being the proud owner of a 85 pontiac fiero gt i just thought id show some respect to the first american engine powerhouse they called the fiero.
though i got my car as a handme down from my dad i have long sinced loved it as though it was my very own child. it really pisses me off when i tell everyone that i drive a fiero that they say oh yeah the car that blows up. people dont give credit to what the fiero really was. espescially the gt's. did u know that the 2.8l fiero V-6 actually put out quicker time than the 1984 ferrari 308 gts and this is proven in motor trend. just thought i let u know that. plus the ferrari even had a V-8 pumping out 255 hp which was not much more than that of the fiero. also the overall acoustics of the car are enough to turn the head of most teenagers and old geezers that drive porshes around the town of tallahassee. it might not be a ferrari sounding sportscar but a sportscar it is and for about 1/20 th of the price its a damn good car even if it might blow up someday Peace Beezer

Can someone please post the stats of a good Fiero.
I think it could have been alot better, the car wasn't sure if it was an economy car or a sports car, but the GT models were good sports cars, I guess. I don't think it could beat a 308, though. Show me the proof, and then I'll believe it. You can tune them good, though. I've heard of Northstar V8's in them, some suspension work, and you have a 300hp mid-engined beast. It must also make a good car to learn about mid-engine characteristics, too. |

Yeah, I really like Fiero's too. I'm really into kit cars, and they provide the base for so many (fino, finale, f-50, f355, 328, jalapeno, scorpion........................).
I'm not sure what a "GT" is....do you have a V6, Beezer? Yes, there are plenty of kits out there to drop in a Northstar V8, and I believe there is also some for 350's.

Hey enzo! yeah i have the 2.8L V6 in my car. I know it is not the biggest engine but it is put into a two seat car and it is made basically of plastic both a plus and a con. But for what it is worth the V6 puts my fiero w/ upgrades of cousre to 0-60 in bout 7.0 secs which is pretty good i think. i couldnt think about anyone putting a V8 in my car. tohugh people do do it they have to put like 500 pounds in the front of the car to keep the nose down when they take off!
by the way ive only lost once in all the races around tallahassee which are usually FSU guys souped up hondas. i lost to a viper of course but it was fun. i have still yet to race Justin@af's prelude but we were going to at prom.

Tell us your cars original stats (hp, weight, etc), then the mods you did, and your new estimated power.
I have an idea! Get a Toyota Tacoma Pikes Peak car engine (yah, with 1100hp) and put it in the Fiero! It is light, really, maybe lighter than your engine. AND it is small (about the size of a small suit-case, really, reallyt small.) Then de-tune it a bit (to, ah, 950hp) to make it livable.BAM, a 950 hp Fiero! IS that an idea or what:alien2: |

btw is there really an engine like that bc ive never heard of it. also ill get some stats on here and my upgrades asap. rght now though im stuck with home work. i hate school. peace!beezer

Yah, the engine is real. There is an article in the June 2000 issue of R&T, pg 64, and some pictures. You can see them at this site Its not up yet, but it will be soon. (no scanner at home)
Oh, and I kinda goofed. It has 850 hp from a 2.13 litre turbo 4. When you squeeze that nitrous button (I don't think that car was equiped- his original burned a few weeks before Pikes peak, and it was rebuilt with {heavier} fiberglass, no NOS, no special shifter) I may be wrong, of course. So detune it to 750 hp, or 900+ hp with the juice on. Oh, in full hilclimb outfit, the Tacoma went 9.52 second quarter at 151.76 mph. 0-60 in 2.51 seconds. It was capable of much more. |

Nice car. Are you running the stock motor? I'm guessing you are by those stats. Ever thought about a small block conversion?

yep stock motor. 2.8, automatic TH125. (it's got 30,000 on the new block)
www.fiero.nl/uploads/1fstdyno_manymods.jpg thats my normal dyno graph. it pulls pretty good. heads shaved 20, ported intake, bigger TB, the easy coolant bypass, headers, shift kit, MSD 6a, Crane ps91 coil. and Apexi S-AFC, camaro 350 injectors. thought about a SBC.. just waiting for the engine to tank then i'll dive into that. Fieros are cool, I own 2 at the moment. But will be selling because I need a bigger car
. If you want a good site for fiero info go to http://www.fiero.nl/forum . About 3000 users and its all fiero related. Not that this site isn't good, but I have only seen like 3 fieros on it so far.

Ok, me being a 85' Fiero GT owner, I will clear things up. The fiero stock had 145 hp and 165 lbs or torque. Slighty modded and your in the 160's hp. 1/4 is about low 15's, really good drivers claim hi 14's. But average, 15.5 at 85 mph on 1/4. Not bad for what it is. Cornering, the bitch can zing. There aren't many cars that good. With the engine in the middle, wieght distrubition is really good. My Fiero can smoke most cars on the road. Like 60 to 80%. The 85' GTs are the fastest stock Fieros. 3 reasons, emmission cut down 86' V-6s on up, they got heavier (not much), and the 85's came in 4-speeds while half way through 86, they introduced 5's. Fiero is my favorite car ever.
