Request...

Well being new to the forum I read the FAQ and think this is where I would make a request...

MiniStyle.com is building a 66 F100 longbed as a project truck, This truck is going to have tech articles in Street Trucks, Street Rodder, Rebel Rodz and additional print magazines. In addition it is gaining interest from a number of online forums and webzines.

What were are looking to do is have a contest for the rendering of the truck. I am asking what people here feel would be a good way to judge the contest. People choice lends to issues with people creating multiple ID's to be able to vote, Judges lend to favoriteism... Maybe it just be a vote from MiniStyle.com current staff... What do you think is the fairest way to run the contest?

Also , we have limited resources for this contest, what would be an expected prize for the winner, 2nd and 3rd.?

Thanks for reading this long post...

Re: Request...

I'm interested. Shoot, I'll draw anything from the 60's!

Except a Corvair, or a 4-door Bonneville, or Edsel, or...

Re: Request...

I haven't posted anything to the site... though I might have to add a page on the site that isn't general access... I don't want to get a bunch of crayon drawings and distroy some kids dreams when they don't get any votes...

The whole thing is in the planning stage right now... But I'll get some pics loaded to ministyle.com/slick for people to get a look at the project truck. Images will be posted on June 27th at 10pm central time.

First prize is $50 and two MiniStyle t-shirts (one of the current design one of the unreleased design)

2nd is one current design t-shirt
3rd is one current design t-shirt

females, so you know I am able to make the shirts in a womens babydoll or spegetti strap shirts as well.

This sound do-able?

Re: Request...

Sounds great.....please post a reply on this thread and/or with the images on ministyle if there is anything specific your team is wanting for the truck (ie. color, rim style, etc.) or if you just want us artists to run with our own imaginations!

Re: Request...

I wish I could just let you go crazy with this... But what you draw is going to be built... and on a budget...

Must have - Lowered (airride, though doesn't have to be flat on the ground),

You must not - Shave body lines, change fenders, shorten the bed (to the point of being noticed), remove holes above the grill or chop the top. And please no body kits....

You can do this plus more - Shave or change handles, tailgate, mirrors, grill, etc.

Here is an over view of why we picked this truck and the look we are hoping for...

We chose the 1966 F100 because it is an overlooked vintage truck that is not commonly built for show. The styling is classic with nice body lines that add to the over all look of the truck. By building a 66 F100 we will be able to attend the largest percentage of shows and gain the attention of most major print and web magazines.

With this in mind, off the wall insane paint design is not a goal. By keeping the paint smooth, and classic we will draw attention to the trucks lines and mods. This truck would feel at home at a classic truck show, Import tuner showdown, Friday night cruze in, or a highschool prom.

Its a tall task to design something that is so kewl it fits anywhere, with anyone and still is the hot thing on the block.

Re: Request...

Once you get pictures, I will be all over this. Sounds like fun. Would we just send a picture or the actual rendering? It sounds like a good contest. I'm sure a lot of people here will give it a shot.

Re: Request...

As much of a pain in the behind as it is I will need the org. rendering from the top 3. I will pay for all the shipping and what not. The rendering will tour with the truck in 2008. The orginal Artists will receive credit for the renderings in the form of a plaque mounted to the frame containing the rendering, the plaque will contain the arrtists name, and a URL on MiniStyle.com talking about the artist. The web page of the artist will contain what ever information the artist wishes to have displayed as well as an image of the rendering, the information must be OK'ed by MiniStyle.com first (don't want people to think I'll post anything, there are limits)

In addition to that I have to have a signed release form, to publish the rendering in any magazines... its a royal pain but publishing companies like Primedia require this release before they will run any images.

Re: Request...

Well I posted the pics a little early... Had time available so figured I'd get it done.

http://ministyle.com/slick

The photos are huge, so you might want to right click and download them. I wanted to be sure to get enough detail in the pics...

If I missed something you wanted to see let me know, I didn't take a pic of the engine compartment, because the motor in it right now is going to be pulled in favor of a built 302 with AOD trans.

Any questions or problems please let me know.

Re: Request...

Great to see the pics.....got a few questions that many of us may have to help clarify...

1) Is there a maximum paper/original size limit?

2) Are you looking for more than one view rendered of the truck?....if so, are you looking for the different views on the same paper or say do two or three seperate renderings of the different views?

3) Last but not least, are looking specifically for an interior view rendering too if you want multiple renderings?

Thanks for replying to everyone's questions so far!

Ken

Re: Request...

While multi view is nice, it's not required. If you do multi view on different sheets, at shows all renderings will be displayed, but for magazine they might only do one view, thats up to their editing dept.

As for the interior - I wanted to be able to provide as much information on the truck as I could, thats the reason for the interior shot.

As long as the rendering isn't life size I think we'll be OK. As far as how small to go, I would hope that I don't get any drawing on napkins... though some peoples best ideas happen during lunch...

Always happy to answer what I can...

Re: Request...

Well a few people have messaged about the dead line... but not being skilled in this kind of thing I have no idea how long it takes...

Any ideas as to when the contest should end?

I need to start the build up soon as we have most of the truck tore down now, it's going to have the paint removed and holes welded closed starting this week.
