Jeep Instrument Cluster Replacement Odometer Fix?
Hello,
I am replacing my Current IC with a new one with 136,000 Miles. my XJ has 84,640 on it. Can I change the milage on the new cluster to reflect that? Someone told me that this might be illegal? or is it considered automotive repair? Any info is appreciated. |

Re: Jeep Instrument Cluster Replacement Odometer Fix?
It depends what state law says in your state. In Michigan, you can reset an OD forward, but not back. The reason I know this is I bought an 01 Cherokee where the od wasn't working. So the dealer got a used IC from a junk yard to replace it. I inquired of Jeep for the heck of it and was told what I just passed along above. Also, if I wanted a whole new IC it would cost me for the part only .. $900.00!!!!!!!
I thanked them for their time and had the first guy put in the used one. |
