88 731i Head Gasket

Hello, newbie here.

I just bought an 88 735i, a really nice car. I got it at a really good price due to the fact that it possibly needs a head gasket replacement, or it may even be a cracked head needs to be replaced.

Here is what I know: It overheats after driving for a while, and when I checked the oil, it appeared to be a light brown color. A friend of mine told me that the oil and coolant are mixing, "probably cracked/warped head or head gasket.

My question is: Does anyone know a link where I could find instructions on replacing the head gasket? Or, does anyone have info themselves...

I checked to see how much it would cost... $1000+. I'd rather do it myself if possible, b/c i can't come up with that kind of dough all at one time.

PM me if you can help, any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Check out the links in my signature, you should be able to find some a 'how to' on head gasket replacement; probably Don Gales page or Johan and Seans page...
