Question new guy with a question. please don't flame

I recently bought a 1990 civic 4 dr lx. I am on an extremely tight budget, but would like to modify it little by little over time. Could you guys (and gals) give me some simple or relatively cheap modifications that i could do. Also i wondered if the custom front bumpers that they sell for 3 doors would fit a 4 door.

Any help would be appreciated

if it matters my car is the 1.5 litre automatic w/ ac and power steering

Doug

how little $$? a nice start are some clear corners, tint 5 windows (legality pending)...maybe paint your trim with body match paint and clear coat, new shift knob, steering wheel, get a 4 door front bumper cause 3 dr's are more narrow...thats all I can think of thats cheap.

gradual

basically i'm looking for things i can do gradually wheels i should be hooked up a guy i know has a set of enkei's (not sure what model) 18 inch he bought for his civic and then upgraded to some racing hart's so i can probably get a deal on those,..is an intake a waste of time? (cai) on that motor or is it worth custom making 1?

ummmm
just for reference when i get a better job i want to get a hatch i just like em so much better... so i don't want to do too much to this car.. but i gotta do something cause plain just doesn't suit me

Type R stickers! You need Type R stickers! They add at least 20bhp to a Civic.

Altezzas and a fart pipe make it go even faster

Of course, no Honda would be happy without Nawsssss... 2 bottles

Or you could drop it and add 15 or 16 inch wheels and then go with exhaust mods

Hey Man!
Welcome to the forum.

A good start would be to lower it. Adds a really nice look to your car. Next i would do exhaust.
Once you have the basic bolt-ons then you can start to make it look crazy

If your ever looking for any parts shoot me off a email, i own a online import company [email protected]

Ahhh the stereotypes.. not exactly what i was looking for.. but anyway i guess i did say that any suggestion would be appreciated.

but anyway what lowering springs would you suggest? remember the strict budget[sarcasm on] plus i have to order the typeR and nos stickers. [sarcasm off]

I would suggest coilovers. This way you can choose the height you wanna ride at.

Coilovers 0-4" drop $178.00

alrighty.

ok now for another question. if and when i do get my hatch would i be able to swipe the coilovers off the sedan and put em on the hatch or are they different ... like everything else seems to be different from sedan to hatch i wish there was a better selection of front bumpers for the sedan but i guess that'll have to wait anyway

does anyone know about the cold air intake? is tere 1 out there for this motor or no?

They should work when you get a hatch.

Look around for a DX intake, it'll work on your LX since they have the same fuel injection. I've seen em on a couple site for like $80, but if you look on ebay for a dx intake you can find the same ones for like $40.

btw... welcome to the board

i hate to break it to ya but coilovers suck unless you buy the "real" ones that are about 1500.

hey airbob, im on the same crisis as you are, well i was until i cant "hook" up my car anymore. Its tooken me about 5 months to do everything that i have done, as for stereo wise that took alot longer

some cheap mods

welcome to the board man,

for get all that type r stuff, keep your honda as much of hoinda as possible . get some phat si wheels for like 3 - 400 dollars or some gsr wheels. lower it with springs and shocks. coil overs are only good when you have the money to spend. for schocks i would suggest tokico blues and i some eibach sport line springs would be all good for it. for the best resoults go to e bay and type jdm civic and you will find a whole new world of mods for your car.

Good luck with 18'' rims on a Civic. The 17'' guys have mad problems, so with 18'' it all increases. Just find some 13'' VX rims, they are also made my Enkei.

Which is what I am rollin on

Also, as far as intake goes, I was able to get an ebay generic short ram for $16!

There are a couple of bumper options available, check out visracing.com, and be sure to check out the 4th Gen 4 Door newsletter, (if I could find the damn link)

As far as suspension goes, ask these other guys, I am rolling stock.
