Price and Specs for new GT-R (R35)???

Does anyone have any recent data on the new Nissan GT-R?

It looks like the design is becoming cleaner and more like what we will see on the street. From what I can gather from other posts (and please correct me if I am wrong) we know the following:

1) Next iteration of the GT-R will not be a Skyline but instead it's own Nissan model named "GT-R".
2) Appears the power plant will be the VQ35DETT. Power is rumored to be around 440 bhp.
3) It appears Nissan is making the committment to bring this car to the USA as an Infiniti

Here is where my questions come in...

1) What will the weight be? (The 350Z and G35 Coupe share the body of the new GT-R, and they weigh 3188lbs and 3425lbs respectively. Will the GT-R weigh more because of all the AWD and TT compenents?)
2) It looks like the new GT-R could outperform the 911 Carrera 4 and Viper easily. What does that do to the gentlemens agreement of 280 bhp in Japan?
3) Given it's abilities what does this do to price? How much will it cost in Japan?
4) What would the arrival of a new manufacturer supported GT-R on US soil do to MOTOREX? Would it drive their prices up or down?

The Acura NSX sold for $80k and it only had 280 bhp. The porsche TT is the closest thing and it sells for $125k. Does this mean we have a $80k Infiniti supercar coming to our shores?

Last, will we get enough to meet demand or will the dealers prostitute themselves out for every mark-up cent they can get. (Interestingly, Ferrarri said they were only building 80 or so of the new Enzos. But when demand exceeded supply, they agreed to fill the extra orders so unscrupulus dealers wouldn't scalp the cars.)

Questions, questions....

Well i can answer one of the questions. The 280 bhp gentlemens agreement is gone. The new NSX will also be well over 280 hp, as will the supra. Thats why there is so much talk about these cars having V8s.

I have a somewhat inside source that says the US will get a V8. Thats all I know.

Nissan marketing, think the US public perfers torque, thats why they are leaning towards the V8. Some what true, most of the ricer kids, will not be able to afford this a car.

V-8 power.... Oh yeah!

V-8 power.... Oh yeah!

A Skyline with a v-8 would be great! Looking at the VK45DE engine now offered in the Q45, I would be hoping for a little more. They would likely have to TT this baby to get the Supercar numbers that everyone has been talking about. In a TT application I think it would be easy to go from 330 hp to 440 bhp. Only bout a 30% increase in power.

As is, the engine has variable intake controls, variable valve timing, titanium valves, etc; not too much left for improvement without stroking it. Now coming from a C5 vette with 350 hp, I would say that 330 hp is impressive, but I would like more!

As for being out of the average Joe's price range, I think that will be a given. With Audi bringing the RS6 to the USA with a TT 440 hp V-8 for $80k, I would say that it is a safe bet that the GT-R would be in the $80k neighborhood. I wonder what the new NSX will cost. Can't imagine it would be less than the current one. It's a great handling car, with more power it would be truely evil!

I am curious what one would cost in Yen. With the current exchange rate, we are looking at a 25% discount in Japan.

I don't know if I want to buy another expensive car. I was living on rice and cup-o-noodles after buying the vette new. It is kind of nice not making that car payment anymore, but man do I miss driving it. It's also a lot of stress owning a new car like that. You worry about everything! Life seemed more relaxed when I had a hopped up 10 year old stang, that already had plenty of rust and dents. Oh well, you can't have your cake and eat it too!
