Eclipse GS Running Stock?
Hey again, I'm running a Injen Cool Air Intake and DCS Headers in my GS Eclipse. Now my reaction time isn't the very best but I ran a 16.582 and my reaction time was .406, but I am getting crazy wheel hop. I was told to depressure the tires to prevent that. I may sound retarded but I am very new to the racing world. So I'd appriciate all the tips and help I can get. So my question what does the GS run STOCK?

Re: Eclipse GS Running Stock?
I think it runs a 16.5 stock, reaction time isin't that important. What was you 60' time, this will tell you how good of a launch you got. Also wheel hop is very bad! Back off the throttle if you start to get it. Get some urethane motor mounts and that will help with the wheel hop. Also let your tire pressure down to like 25psi

Re: Eclipse GS Running Stock?
Still a 16.5 on a gs is pretty good.
Just telling you reaction time isn't included in your ET. Also .4 is actually pretty good as anything faster is really just in anticipation of the green light and your actually launching before you see it. It takes some time to get used to the trees so it is hard to anticipate until you are really comfortable. Yea im curious about your 60' too

Re: Eclipse GS Running Stock?
Deflate the front tires down low. I think I read that they should be 20lbs below recommended, and the back should be 15lbs over(???) Does that sound right? Also, better rubber will help with that hop. And, amazingly a strut bar will help also.

Re: Eclipse GS Running Stock?
Take out the front passenger seat, jack, spare tire. That might save you a little bit of weight. Learning how to drive better will be the best improvement.

Re: Eclipse GS Running Stock?
I took mine out, but not necessarily to save weight. I would never put anyone back there anyway, plus all they do is get in the way of sliding back the front seats. If you really want to save weight, there are better ways to go about it. The spare tire and jack are good things to take out, not all that heavy, but small shit adds up. AC is pretty heavy too I think, I ripped that shit out as well. The condeser, compressor, and the inside thing are heavy enough themselves, but the freon is (I would imagine) a good weight savings. If you arent going to drive it in the winter, taking out the heater core is also a pretty good weight savings I think. If you really want to get hardcore, each speaker weighs a good few pounds as does the deck... add up the spare tire, jack, AC system, heater core, sound system, back seat, and back seatbelts and you have lost a good amount of weight. I am anxious to see what my cars weighs. Eventually, a sound system will go in there along with probably an AC system, but not for a long time when I get all the mods done and can afford them.

Re: Eclipse GS Running Stock?
However, if you're getting wheel hop, taking out weight isn't going to help. ADDING weight will help keep them wheels on the ground. Lightening up the front (on FWD) is going to make it worse.
