1990 2.2 liter head is done need help with follow up...

If anyone hasent already seen my last post PLEASE read it and help me I'm stuck and I need help with the tranny problem. To recap I finished the head and it runs but It wont come out of first gear?? The three cabels that lead to the throttle body are there EXCEPT the one that leads to the tranny, I cut it by accident WHAT DOES THIS DO??

Ok nevermind I finally got it. chevy thought it would be a good idea to bolt the bottom power steering pump bracket to the motor mount, well through it actually.

Transsmission wont come out of first gear??

Ok I got my head all buttoned up and it runs but now I have another problem... There are three cables that run to the throttle body, one is for the go peddle, two is for the cruise control (I think), Third runs to the trannsmission, but dosen't it ONLY control the kickdown... I didn't think it controled when the car shifted??
OR there is a four pin connector on the front of my trannsmission (its only a 3 speed by the way) it's green in color and tonite I noticed it was unplugged and looks like it has been for quite some time, What the CRAP does this do??? I thought it might be a plug for the TCC BUT its only a three speed (as far as I've ever known) so would it have a lock up clutch??

Re: 1990 2.2 liter head gasket (what am i missing???)

that cable IS your kick down cable, it controls your transmission upshifting AND downshifting. yes, it controls both,

when you press on your gas, that cable tightens and puts your tranny in 1st gear (depending on your speed of course), when you let off the gas it pushes that cable back allowing your trans to go into 2nd or 3rd

right now that cable isnt getting pushed back when you let off the gas

this is DEFINETELY your problem

Re: 1990 2.2 liter tranmission

Your right that was my problem. This is the first time I've ever seen this on a car or ANYTHING for that matter. Usually the trans changes gears due to the hydralic fluid pressure and a few other small things but anywho, makes me wonder exactly what is in this tranny and how tough they could be???
