So i have this poor 2003 impala which just started having a/c problems. The very firstthing i tried was replacing the head unit with no success. Then today i changed the low pressure switch and checked the voltage (5v) and continutity across the points with no avail. The clucth refuses to kick in. Fuses are all ok, ive tried changing relays with the Ignition circuit with no change. I hot jumped to clutch to se if the clutch was defective and it worked with this trouble shooting trick. r134a guages claim 120 lbs of freon . Something is telling the clutch to not kick in and i fear ill have to let my daughter drive thru another hot oklahoma summer with out ac. If anyone has any insight on what i may have over looked, all help or comments are appreciated.
Part Bin Salvage Yard Control Head Unit Dealer New Pressure Switch Diagnostics 5v to switch continuity checks ok relays not defective fuses all good MoDis Plugged in for codes, codes cleared for pressure switch circuit has not reappeared after dealer switch installed Thanks!!!

Re: Impala A/c trouble
Easy killer. By 120lbs of freon, are you saying it's operating at 120psi? That is way high, even for the high side reading. It sounds like you have a blockage, causing the system to shut down due to high pressure readings.
