Paint!

Holy carp I found a great place to get my car painted. They would charge like 600 bucks for EXTERIOR painting, which would include some sort of paint that mixes the paint and clear coat. It's actually a pretty good look (pretty much would look like when my car rolled out of the factory). For an extra 400 I could get the clear coat on top of the paint, but obviously more expensive. They guy said it would look about the same but you start noticing the difference between the two after about 6 or 7 years. As long as I kept my car cleaned and waxed I'd be fine.

With that said I'm considering getting my car painted black, getting black rims, black headlights, etc. with the blue trim u guys have already seen on my car. Sound neat? Of course I'd get the carbon fiber RAM AIR hood and have that painted black too... god my car would look SICK...

Re: Paint!

600$ sounds awful cheap
You get what you pay for too.

Earl Shives or Maccoo will paint your car for real cheap too

Also have you been in a black car during the summer ?
It's hottttt !!!!!!!!!!

If I painted either of mine I'd do a color that wasnt available from the factory.
With some popin metal-flake and a clear coat you could see from miles away

shop around & get some quotes

Re: Paint!

I also would not recomend Maacoo
I've heard more bad things then good about them.
See here.....

Hell it doesnt take rocket science to paint, its the prep work that counts and quality of materials.
I've seen people paint thier car in the driveway or yard(would not recomend it) and it not turn out to bad.

Like I said, shop around and look at thier recent work and prep area(s).

Re: Paint!

Ask around I’m sure you find an EXPIRENCED paint guy that does it on the side for $200 more plus it will be 1000x’ better

Re: Paint!

I second Xi on avoiding Maaco at all costs. I know too many people that got their cars painted there to either have it fade/peel/or loose its shine very quickly all the way to having them paint over things on the car such as trim/moldings/ lights/emblems/ windows/ license plates... etc. You get what you pay for.

However on colors i too would go for something non-factory but within the relm of colors that go with the car. Something tells me the SRT blue wouldn't look as good as you think. It'll look close to the bright blue color they had i believe in 2001 for the grand am's. Go for something different. I'm personally partial to a candy apple red ( or similar burgundy shade with a metallic coat to is)
