I know about this, you'd have to lower the compression drastically, to around 8:1, you'd have to get an ignition controller, to retard the timing, and you'd have to get a fuel controller, so that your engine get's more fuel under boost.

You'd also have to fabricate completely new exhaust, a new header, and add an intercooler as well. If you're up to rebuilding your engine and spending a few thousand doing it, go ahead... It would be much simpler, and probably a better idea just to get a 951 engine, because it has everything except the DOHC head.

Well, I went to a Porsche repair shop here in Miami and a guy there told me that it isn't a good idea putting a turbo on my 944 just because the 944 turbo model engines are made differently from the non-turbo models. He told me that it's better to just buy the turbo engine with the turbo because putting a turbo on a non-turbo engine will kill the engine after sometime. I don't know how different the 944 S is from the regular 944, but make sure it is save.

It's not hard to do at all, and it won't kill the engine, if you do it right. Of course, doing it right means changing lots of parts, and they don't come cheap

The 944 S engine was a DOHC version of the 944 engine, and I think it displaced 2.7 liters.
