tires, rain, and bogging
Well, my Caprice has had an interesting development in the mysterious hesitation. It was pouring rain today, and man did my car bogg on me! It felt like it was going stall, but didn't. It only does this it seems, when it's raining.
In the same session as above, when I pulled out of a parking lot and hit my brakes, to my surprised the wheels locked when I BARELY touched the break, I thought I hit something. I thought when the breaks are wet they slip, why did mine lock up like that? Also, my front left tire is developing a weird taking-in-air habbit. I have had to let air out of that tire atleast 2 times now. My particular tires are supposed to be 35 psi each, and for some reason, within a week, my front left tire gets up to 40 psi! (that's the max psi for these tires) What in the world! My father keeps saying I'm on crack, lol, but seriously, somehow air is getting IN to the tire.

Well the running like crap in the rain indicates an opti-spark failure to me.
Bald or nearly bald tires could cause the brakes to lockup. Wait a minute though. That car should have ABS. You should have no lockup.... Regarding the tire pressure... are you checking it at same time each day? Also, outside temperature will effect the pressure.

Yea, the car has ABS, so I have no idea why it didn't kick in.. The breaks are usually fine and work great, and have saved my life countless times in the florida traffic. I check the tire pressure always at 3pm...

My Sierra does this EVERY time it rains, and it has ABS too. It's from all the moisture sitting parked makes the barkes rust... real fast. Then the first couple of times hitting you brakes they will grab hard until the rust is worn off.

Bogging issue: How are your spark plug wires? Also look at the distributor cap.
Brakes: My non-ABS brakes will get grabby after a good rain, only for a few stops then they're ok. The organic pads suck up the moisture. Tire gaining air: They tend to do that is pressure is real low. The sidewall flex causes them to build up pressure. Take a good look at the sidewall for any bubbles or waves on the surface. Try to check the pressure with another gage and compare it to the one you always use. Check them dead cold before you do any driving for the day. Bob
