Re: possibly no more ERTL kits-
Well, The AMT Ertl arm of RC2 has been up for sale for quite sometime. They canceled all *NEW* tools and have already canceled some tools missing parts. I believe they will continue to put out what is already available for awhile, or should I say that is already on the injection line.
The problem is they are selling the plastic with the die-cast and no one wants to pay the steep asking price. We'll have kits from AMT/Ertl for quite awhile though. Lets just hope some other company picks them up and continues. |

Re: possibly no more ERTL kits-
Lots of banter about the hobbico deal. The biggest thing right now and that has some modeler's up in arms is Hobbico is trying to squeeze out distributors and only pick a handful to sell the Revell kits. Not really a great idea, but a business model they must be following.
I just hope that Hobbico puts forth some money so we can get some great new tools. I believe Wal-Mart will still sell Revell kits too. Just that Hobbico is trying to clean up and tidy up the operation and so far I haven't and most others haven't really liked the direction things are going. I think down the road eventually they will try and make Tower Hobbies the only place online you can buy and force other dealers to buy from that arm. Thus of course giving Tower Hobbies an online advantage as you know they will sell the kits cheaper on line versus a hobby shop getting a fair shake on pricing. I could go on and on, but I'll stop here. I hate to say wait and see, but I have a feeling I know where the old truck will run out of gas..... Chris |
