Re: Wet floor

Sounds like the drains for your sunroof are clogged. It's a common problem, along with the seal along the firewall leaking which floods the front of the car.

Re: Wet floor

So when you locked the keys in your car did he pop out the window or what ?

These models are leakers!!!

Feel around the headliner by the sun roof over too the door,
and the carpet by the door opening.
Could have just not had your rear door shut all the way which can happen.

As skibum said the roof drains leak.
What I've seen is that they put the hose for the drains on before paint. Paint dries and shrinks causing hoses to crack and then leak.
They also get pluged and overflo into the cabin.

Which that leak is caused by the sunroof gasket not sealing properly.
My GT needs one but I'm not wasting money on something I dont use anyway.
I just siliconed it closed and pulled the fuse

Good Hunting !

Re: Wet floor

I was thinking about starting a thread on this. I have an exact same leak. After it rains, the floor behind the drivers seat is totally soaked and the floor in front is moderately wet. Passangers side is absolutely dry..nothing there.

I tore the entire car apart to figure this out...cleaned the drains, checked the firewall. Came to a conclusion it was the panel on the drivers side door that was slightly coming off. Sealed that and hole on the bottom between the floorboard and the bottom of the car which is where I thought the water was going through after it leaked through the panel. And it's still leaking. I'm out of ideas.

I'd be glad to help out but all I've done produced no results so you are in for a major headache with this leak.

Re: Wet floor

Another way to find out if the door seals are the culprit is to take a piece of paper and see if it slides easily through the seal with the door closed. Window obviously down.

DepecheFan, your GA have a sun roof too I take it ?

I just used some puty stuff behind the areas of my door seals that I thought were leaking.
So far, I've had dry floors for almost a year on both GA's

Re: Wet floor

i had a similar problem except it was only my front drivers side floor that was wet...not the back. The seal between the floorboard and the firewall (behind the pedals) had a hair-line crack in it. It was almost invisible. I sealed it back up and problem solved.

Also, I had my windshield replaced a few weeks ago and i noticed water dripping in through the top side of the drivers side door seal. I looked at it and found that the seal was "lipped" under itself. I "unlipped" it and its fine.

might also want to check the trunk seal. I opened my spare tire compartment and found it 3/4 full of water. The tire and the jack were completely submerged. I ended up drilling 3 holes in the bottom of it to prevent it from pooling like that again

just a few things to check.

Re: Wet floor

I had the exact same problem and I just finished fixing it the other day. On the grand am, or at least on my '95 grand am, the water runs down the drains on either side of the windshield and down towards the center under the hood rather than just straight down like most other cars. On my car, the problem was that the seal on the firewall was shot at the top and it had also a small hole, about half an inch in diameter, rusted through it. I drilled out the metal to remove the rust and covered it with bondo body filler. The car has been dry since then, but it took me a while to figure out where the leak came from. Also in finding the leak, there is a black rubbery material with a gray spongy backing covering the firewall. I had to cut that away to find and fix the leak, however you can't see it after i put the cover back on down there. I can take pics or even a video if you would like me to just email me if you want them or have any other questions about it.

P.S. My car also only leaked when it rained and after you try to fix it running the hose down the windshield is a good way to test it after whatever you used is dried.
