ac,compessor location

can the ac compressor squeek or grind when car is in park or neutral if car isn't in gear. also no cold air. i also want to know people that had grinding compressors what are of car was it coming from. also exact location of compreesor

it's ac clutch scraping cos of compressor locked-up.
compressor is located roughly front of engine bay, underneath the car. track the main belt.
good thing is to get and install new compressor+clutch (assembled), and do an evac/refill at station after that.

they are relatively cheap (ebay).
howto on replacing is available - search and visit ACNA.

will it sound like the noise is on driver side ,if so thanks. i really appreciate info. was about to drop tranny. been looking at them. stopped driving for months becasuse of squeel. so that mean my compressor is shot. wow?

If you want you can put a shorter belt on and bypass the compressor. No cold air, but the car is driveable the cost of a belt.

can the sound seem like its coming from driver side of motor though. its a chirping squeeel whine.

jesus, open your hood when car is making this noise. use flashlight and a stick. put stick to diff parts to locate sound.
also check your (both) belt tensioners and pulleys (especially W.P. tens pulley) - they can make hella CHIRP
