98 Blazer, Oil Pump, Pan Removal

Im curious on a 98 Blazer, 4.3 Motor, 4X4, 4 Door, in order to change out the oil pump, if the engine has to be raised in order to get the pan off? Doesnt look like much clearance, but thought Id see if someone else has did it before getting into it too far.

Craw under there and have a look at it.
You should not have to jack up the engine but.
Most of them you can remove front rear end and have a good straight shot at the oil pan.
Also starter and splash pan and oil lines and dip stick tube may need removed.
The flat rate for a 4X4 is about about 6 hrs or 2-3 hrs less than a 2 wheel drive.

Pull the front rear end and you should have a straight shot at the oil pan.

Well really the front axle and rear end unit all together or in other words the hole thing.

Read post no 2.
Craw back under there and look.
See if when you remove front rear end front axle assembly that everything will be open to get to the oil pan. If no cross member under the pan you have it made.

I think(correct me if I am wrong MT), but he was trying to say the front differential has to come out, along with the front drive axles, front drive axle. Your gong to need to unbolt the pitman arm, idler arm and move it out of the way. You don't need to unbolt the engine at all. After you get the front diff off, its pretty easy from there, the trick is the front diff.
