My 99 mercury cougar's engine siezed!! so i just got some quotes on engines from a couple salvage yards around here and one asked me if its an 8g or 9g engine....
Whats the difference and would either be compatible? also how do i know which one i need without pulling my engine out? |

Re: engine 8g or 9g?
thanks.. i'll do that, i would ask my "friend" who owns a car shop, but he quoted me at 2700 for an engine swap, so he's no longer a friend that i'll do business with. He's tried to rip me off several times.
His uncle has a salvage yard and in the 2700 quot was a 1100 engine.... yet all the salvage yards around his uncles want 600 for an engine, so forget him! i really think the differences is minute and wouldn't make a difference better to make sure before i carry on with the swap and it doesn't work out! thanks guys and take care! yes i love exclamation marks! |

Re: engine 8g or 9g?
Do the swap yourself not that hard I just did one the hard part is torchiing the crank off the old motor to get to the tranny bolts! Get some friend over to help and a good service manual.
