2002 Bonneville popping/clunking sound when driving over bumps

Clunking or popping sound in the rear somewhere when going over bumps. I've had almost every component of the rear suspension replaced and it's not going away. Even had the mechanic ride in the trunk trying to find the problem.

There are a lot of highway miles (I drive about 50,000 miles a year) on the car but it started at about 36,000 miles and continues to this day.

I live in a colder climate and it only happens in summer. During the winter months you can't hear it at all.

GM is basically saying there is nothing thay can do and to live with it.

Any ideas?

I originaly replaced the shock mounts with new GM mounts. No change.

I just replaced them with aftermarket Monroe mounts. That fixed the problem. It's like driving a new car again.

Spent years and thousands with GM trying to fix the problem. They had no clue. $200 in aftermarket parts and it's fixed.
