91 tempo with 350 engine?
Does anyone know if a chevy 350 engine would fit into a tempo? How much would it set me back getting a decent 350 at a junkyard? If the engine even fits how much trouble would go into putting it in? I know its probably not worth the time but it was just a thought as this would be my first project, the car is ugly as sin but would make a nice sleeper. Or just have somone haul it out?
Its needs a transmission and new brakes, and a new back window. THANKS FOR ANY INFO YOU HAVE! |

Re: 91 tempo with 350 engine?
Aint going to happen. Sorry to burst your bubble but there would be too much money involved I think. You would have to convert to rear wheel drive which is costly and difficult. Then you have to move the firewall and anything near it. I dont think it would be worth it. There are other optons like a 3.8L out of a taurus or windstar and I have seen these 4banger supercharged before. It can be done but its up to you.

Re: 91 tempo with 350 engine?
The Chevy astro van uses a 4.3 and comes with either FWD or AWD. And the 4.3 and the 5.7(350) uses the same tranny bolt-up patterns.
