ok...what is an ECU chip? and how are people getting codes off them? and where at is the ECU chip? also...my speedo is broken ( i burnt it up doing over 125 mph in my Civic Si), would that make my check engine light come on? its been on ever since then...thanx

well ur ECU is the computer for ur engine, if u pull back the carpet on the passenger side u will see it, there is a little window with a led that flashes thats the codes. Yes yor check engine light will come on if u do not have a speedo it will probly give u a speed sensor code

Thanx and i have one more quick question...do i have to have the car running in order to check the ECU? or and i do it with the key in the on position?

i think the ecu hold it in its memory the car doesnt have to be running but the ignition has to be on.... just turn it on then u gotta reset the ecu after u fix the problem , just pull the ecu fuse
