I'm trying to replace my stock shift-knob on my 5-speed 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier vl/rs.
The problem I'm running into is i can't get the stock shift knob off. I've seen a post on this forum saying to pull out of the pin facing the dash board and it will come right out. So i pulled out the pin and tried twisting clock-wise and counter clock-wise and i got nothing. I even used pliers to try to twist the thing off but i cant get it to even budge a bit. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe it's rusted? Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: New Shift Knob-Help please
Though I can't give you the answer, I can tell you it sounds like you're going off instructions for the automatic. That's just the pin. I do believe the standard requires some screws or something, but I've never owned one, so I can't give you first-hand.

Re: New Shift Knob-Help please
I remember on my 94, z22 it was just the pin holding in the shifter.. Removal of the pin and the nob would come right out. Dont know tho how the automatic went...
Altho in my 2002, z24 it is just the pin holding the shifter nob in place... Just my say opcorn:
