vibration?

I have a 94 4runner 4wd. I have been getting a high speed vibration around 75+ on my truck. I have had the tires rotated, balanced and replaced the idler arm. The tires are pretty new. It still does it, but not as bad. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Re: vibration?

I had the same problem a few years back and I have the same year 4Runner
Turned out it was a broken bolt on my front skid plate under the engine, The Huge Sucker that goes right up to your front bumper.
Check it out, only takes a few minutes and won't hurt anything.

Good Luck.

Re: vibration?

It might be a U-joint too.
Is the sound/vibration in anyway related to your foot being on the accelerator? If you take your foot off and coast, does the vibration minimize?

Re: vibration?

Yeah as soon as i take my foot off of the pedal, it stops. I bought this thing with a after market exhaust, so i think it might be that. I started to drive it around with O/D off, and it doesnt do it so bad. I took my skid plate off a few weeks ago to do some maintainence, and havent put it back on.

Re: vibration?

If you have an uneven wear pattern on your tires due to under or over inflation that might cause it as well.

Re: vibration?

Had the same problem here to except on a 2wd 98. Turned out to be the fwd U joint. The vibration came on gradually around 45-50 and increased accordingly under load, decrease when I took my foot off the accelerator too. Never made a sound either. Had it replaced and the whole vehicle is running more smoothly than ever. When I looked at it myself I didn't see any real visible indicator that the U joint was bad but got a good look after it had been changed. Good Luck!

Re: vibration?

whats the size of your tires? may be they are to big and not built for high speeds.
