Just a little weekend update.

Hey guys, just thought I would give you a little update as to what I did this weekend and what decisions (yup I suck at spelling) I made.

First off, this weekend was Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, MN and I ran it. I didnt do as well as I wanted but hey, I finished the fucker and I am happy about that.

Second, my buddy Eric (I think he is blackdelsol on AF but is inactive) sold his black 96? Del Sol Vtec (B16) with a few mods for a good price and has been looking for a second gen MR2. Well, he found one and came home with it a few days ago. Let me tell you guys, that car is THE SHIT. It handles like a damn dream and for being an auto NA its pretty quick. It wont be like that for long, a 3g MR2 turbo 5 spd rear clip is on its way. So uh, its going to be a fun project . Tonight he drifted it a couple times, that shit drifted NICE. We drifted around this one corner right in front of a truck... he immediately stopped and put it in park we assume to write down the license plate. Too bad it hasnt been in the state long enought to get one yet . Shit is a cool car though.

Lastly, I made a judgement call this weekend and I am going to stick the fuck to it. I was just jabberin to Eric on the way to Duluth and at this particular time I was bitchin about how my dad pulled the plug on my car. I have a firm belief that its entirely not fair that I be forced to sell my car because "I'm not in the right stage of my life to do it." We are running out of oil and its going to get more and more expensive plus DSM's are getting more rare everyday so I wont get this opportunity again. Besides, this is my passion... I wouldnt ask my mom to stop sewing, my dad to stop racing, or my brother to stop collecting baseball cards now would I? Their hobbies are just as expensive as the Talon so I dont see the big fuckin deal. Well, I am going to pull the motor from the purple car this week and look at the blocks and cranks from both the purple and black cars and see if either are in decent shape. If I can manage to rebuild an engine without going balls deep in machining, I am going to do it. Once I figure out whether its going to be possible or not, I am going to sit my parents down and say I am not looking for money, support, or anything else on this and that no, it wont break my bank but I am going to do it. However, if something else expensive goes its done but that has always been the plan. I just cant let my dream slip away due to the god damn ignorance of my parents. I am not 14 anymore and I have weighed the out comes of each way and if it ends up putting me in a jam later then so be it. Also, this was helped along by all of you fucks that agreed to buy anything and never followed through... thanks ya'll!

Clif notes for lazy people like Brian:
1) I ran 26.2 miles today
2) My buddy got a freakin sweet MR2
3) I am keeping the fucking Talon and thats that

Oooooohhhh. Know what else? I thought insurance was going to be $130 per month as quoted by my dads insurance buddy. Checked Geico, cheapest there was $127. Fuck, right? Progressive's site was down so I was like, huh, where else? Oh yeah, that gay cartoon ad! Esurance! Checked and I see $189... not good. So I scroll down and find thats a lower form of full coverage. Liability alone, $70 per month. Go me! And I bet that will go down once I get my imaginary security system in place . Nah, it will get a security system eventually... just not as soon as I get discounts for it .

My weekend is complete knowing that you did that.

I worked. Then drove 65 miles each way to see my g/f. Made an 1hr 30min trip into 55 minute trip. Go me.

Good to see that a DSM MAY be coming back from the dead. Also good to see the run. I need to get back out there and start running again. Need shoes first.

Re: Just a little weekend update.

Fuck yeah! There'll be a nice sized one as soon as I get my hands on a micrometer. I'm hoping to get shit sized up and start cleaning this week, finish up cleaning and hopefully get going on a rebuild next weekend and hopefully by next weekend have her on its way into the purple car.

Re: Just a little weekend update.

wait a second are you attempting the rebuild yourself?
Thats insane that shit has to be perfect or you will lose compression and burn oil etc that is some hard shit to attempt

Re: Just a little weekend update.

Damn straight. I know I gotta do it just right but who can I trust to get it done right more than myself? See, any greased up wrench monkey that I could have do it doesnt have anything to lose if he fucks up... I do. I feel I can take it on and get it done and I am going to go for it. Besides, I've met some pretty retarded dudes that rebuild motors pretty well, how hard can it be? Do work son!

Rebuilds are easy as hell, they're just time consuming. The thought of one scares too many people away, but once you get into it, it's just alot of patience. You should try it sometime.

Re: Just a little weekend update.

I've really considered building the AWD while it's apart... then I look at the bank account and remember why I'm not

It's good to hear ya changed your mind...

My weekend consisted of taking the block out of the FWD Tsi, fixing brakes on a BMW, changing flats, replacing VC gaskets*, a little drinking, and a pissed off roommate (? not really sure why), oh and bein' broke off my ass... Anybody wanna contribute to the Mike isn't a broke ass fund...

*What a first Father's Day

Oh, and apparently, sitting in the sun all damn day, sipping on soda; isn't that good for ya. I woke up this morning and was dry heaving... WTF

You don't want a blaze of glory, trust me, they're really not all that "gloriful", just busted iron and firetrucks.

Re: Just a little weekend update.

Blaze of glory = bad. Mine wasnt a fire, but it was the sound of a .30-06 being fired in a metal frieght container 1000 times per minute . If it has to go, hope it goes quietly, inexpensively, and close enough for you to gimp home. Ha ha, I will never forget the 106 hp slammed ass 92 Civic that towed my 3000lb car 4 miles back to the shop.
