sweet! A fellow rider!... where in tarwhoozt is Walnut?

If its near Long Beach we can meet up Via Motorscooters!

Although i wouldnt recommend a sport bike as your first bike, if you havent riden before. Lots of power to get into trouble with in a hurry.

But get what you want!

Umm as for websites on Bikes... I guess check out any of the manufactures sites like Yammerhammer, Honder,Suzuki (bless you.), Kawalski, Ferris Bueller...

of course theres Ducati, Aprilia

As for general information.. cant really help ya...sorry duder

Buell is so much more advanced than Harley now its not even funny.

They dumped the old 1203cc motors Vtwin and designed their own 1000cc Vtwin motor that just kicks the crap out of the Harley Versions.

A friend of mine works for Glendale Harley, and is a Test Rider for Buell. He also races them, i've seen these bikes upclose. They're the definition of BADASS.
Pics of the Buell XB9R Firebolt

When he showed up, the bike 'sings' after being shut down. It has dual electric fans that blow on the cylinder heads for a period of time. The gas is carried in the hollow frame rather up top for lower COG. The oil reserve is carried in the swing arm to also help with the lower COG. Not to mention the front brake disc is bolted to the outside of the rim rather at the Hub. This gives it better stopping power, physics show that the outside of a rotating object moves slower thus the brake has less mass to slow down... not to mention the 6 piston caliper that bites down on it.

Ok I shut up now.

Yes, but watching the buell go up against a real sportsbike is quite enjoyable. and buell's are very ugly

But eitherway they did make the right choice in stepping away from harley.

i knew you'd say that, infact i bet myself $5 that you would. Im now... well i still have $5.

They're quite dandy bikes in the twisties, ugly yeah but they dont look like everyother japanese bike. Plus they're cheaper to buy*, insurance is low cause they're not considered a sport bike because they dont have the plastic body work.

* Sticker Price is a bit high for them now.. but i suspect it'll come down.

Buells are more comfortable, the riding position is more natural, and they look beautiful. Buells have very nice low end torque, they're very civil around town. Also, how much does an R1 weigh? 390 isn't it? A Firebolt weighs 380...

If you ask me, which you didn't, I think an R1 looks as ridiculous as a Civic with a huge wing on it... Mechanically, I love the R1, but I think superbikes look like giant spoilers...

yo Redneck, i'd love to meet up.. but i dont know about Long Beach and Walnut being close as heck..hahha...

R-1... I didn't get killed by a sportbike.. i doubt anyone would even waste gas on a minivan.. plus, they dont really even need to get on it to put me 10,000 car lengths behind them. I just always had interest in bikes... perhaps its something about the wind rushing all around you, or the two wheel nature.. idunno...

Looks are opinions so want try to argue with ya. However the Buell doesn't have as much low-end torque as you would think, even though it is a vtwin it can't compare to a RCV or TLR. There is a reason why harley/buell has its own racing devisions.

Anyway yea, dryweight for a firebolt is 385lbs , but it only has 92 ponies and 68ftlbs. Compared to my R1's 385lbs (stock, not anymore), and my 132 ponies and 74ftlbs.

But for a street fighter it is a good looking bike, like I don't like the fazer1000 at all. However once Suzuki releases the Bking, it will make buells look like mopeds.

Yeah, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like the raw visceral look of the Buell Firebolt over the R1, which seems overly aerodynamic looking...

As for the performance, while the R1 has better acelleration times, and higher peak torque, at low rpms, the Buell has more torque. For the usable rpms around town, the Buell is a lot more civil and willing.

Once Suzuki releases the Bking, with almost 100 hp on the Busa, it will make everything look like a moped.
