Re: 2007 Caprice - Must see

and why is this not available in the US??? I would definitely buy one. I bet they use them in AU for police cars. I wonder what the SS looks like? To me it looks better than an impala and it has 200+ khm (I hope those are MPHs) on the dash. There has got to be something people can do to get these back over here hasnt it? After all, how did we get the Impala, Camaro, etc back, but no caprice? Also, do they come off the line with doors like that??? My guess is no, because it looks lowered also, but that would be awesome. lol

A lot of it has to do with government regulations, etc. That Caprice is made by GM's Australian subsidiary, Holden. I believe the speedometer is in Kilometers as most other countries follow the Metric system. There are kits you can buy off eBay to make your vehicle have those doors. I've seen them for my Roadmaster and other vehicles as well. I think they run about $1200. We really didn't "get back" the Impala, Camaro, Monte Carlo,Malibu, etc. as GM has a habit of recycling model names . They especially like to use it to drum up sentiment among the aging baby boomer crowd in hopes that it would spark some memories of their past and equal more sales. Chrysler is doing the same thing with the Charger, and Magnum. I read a report earlier this year that said GM may revive the Caprice nameplate sometime in the next decade for a rear wheel drive model to replace the Impala. Only time will tell if that is true. We all know GM likes to tease us.
