I've got a annoying problem here. I drive a 92 accord ex coupe. Sometimes when i gas up to maybe half a tank or so i can ride with my windows halfway down and i can smell fuel smells. Its not a all the time thing its once and a while. I have to have my vents set to outside air coming inside vehicle and air condition off. I have checked my injectors for leakage but no sign and i jacked the car up and inspected the rubber hose that connects to the spout where you put in the gas nozzle and no signs of leakage there. Is there some kind of vapor canister that stores fumes or is there something else i need to check. Oh by the way i've already changed the gas cap so that did'nt work!

Re: please help gas fumes entering car!
Sometimes when people top off their fuel it runs out of the overflow hose and that what may cause the smell. Since you said you fill up only half a tank that is out of question. Unless you have a faulty gauge.
You may have a cracked vapor canister. On mine 99 Accord LX it is located at the passenger side in the engine bay in the very bottom. Good luck, Sam

Re: please help gas fumes entering car!
I've got a '97 lx and my check engine light has been on for a while now. Only reason its still on is because I'm too lazy (and broke ;-)) to replace my charchoal (or vapor) canister. This might what you need to fix as well. I'm not sure if you know what it does, so I'll reply assuming you don't. It collects all the evaporating gas fumes from your car - gas tank, engine bay, etc - and then returns it to the chambers for combustion. The lid that opens and closes in the canister can get rusted shut. When that happens fumes stop being collected and are noticed in the engine bay or the inside of your car. Obviously this is easier to notice during the summer months. It shouldn't be that hard to find - just look for cylinder type canister with a bunch of hoses leading to it.
