Bug Deflector or clear hood shield??

Just bought a 2004 Cavalier coupe and I would really like to protect the front of the hood as much as possible. I know I could go the bug deflector route but was wondering which company sells the one that would do the best job. Have also read about a product that is clear and covers the front part of the hood. I know this is an option on some new cars. For you that have a bug deflector which one do you like the best and has anyone gone the protective film route? Thanks!

i work at a car dealer and i prefer bug deflectors over the plastic sheild. The plastic ones look like the paint has a defect to me..
