get your veggies in a soda??

found this on MSNBC while doing my daily news browsing

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19230461/

Quote:
As the summer begins to sizzle, we can think of no better way to slake our thirst than with a icy cold carbonated beverage. And if you're in Japan, now you can keep cool with a cucumber-flavored soda.

"Pepsi Ice Cucumber" hit the stores this week, but it doesn't actually have any of the green gourd in it. Instead it has been artificially flavored to resemble "the refreshing taste of a fresh cucumber," said Aya Takemoto, spokeswoman of Japan's Pepsi distributor, Suntory Ltd.

"We wanted a flavor that makes people think of keeping cool in the summer heat," Takemoto said. "We thought the cucumber was just perfect."

The mint-colored soda is on sale just for the summer and only in Japan, Takemoto said. She said initial sales were brisk, and Suntory aims to sell 200,000 cases over the next three months.
the only thing i think this will lead to are more soda-guzzlin kids in Japan

Hm, new idea to get kids off junk food. Make it taste like vegetables. Or new way to get them to eat vegetables???

Either way it works.

that's the thing though. it has no nutritional value that a cucumber has. it just tastes like a cucumber because Pepsi thought it sounded the most refreshing on a hot day in Japan. Unless it goes along the same lines of putting a flames on your car

flames = 10 more horsepower

cucumber in Pepsi = daily serving of vegetables

You want something cool & refreshing, try real aloe vera juice.

If you like them, like I do, they are.

I eat them everyday with my lunch. They're very good for you and contain a lot of h2o in them.

Remember that this is artificial flavored, so it won't be good for you. If you want to drink something that's good for you buy V8, or make your own vegetable or fruit smoothie. Or just stick to good 'ol water. And keep those kids off of the soft drinks.

But remember, a beer a day can help lower your chance for heart disease.

Re: get your veggies in a soda??

This just means there will be an epidemic of fat kids in Japan.
