Porsche 911 GT1 Decals?

Hi guys,

I bought a Tamiya Porsche GT1 few months ago, I opened it this morning and saw all the decals are yellow. I assume there is no way to turn them back to a white color?

Do you know if there is any aftermarket decals for this car? I took a look on hiroboy.com but didn't find any.

Thanks

Sure there are aftermarket decals for it.

As for the kit decals, they can supposedly be unyellowed by 'fading' them in a sunny window. Place them in a ziplock type bag (to keep them safe from possible condensation on the glass), and tape them to a window that gets sun for a few days/weeks. I've heard it works great, but havent tried it.

Another thing that works great is a replacement set from Tamiya....

Thanks, I will try unyellow them and maybe check if I can find a set of decals somewhere, they are all discontinued on HLJ.

Do you have to pay for Tamiya replacement set? Is it really expensive?

I will bet that for your time and effort, including the money to get replacement decals that you could buy a new kit for $10-15 more. Food for thought.

They're not all discontinued- there's three sets that are just out of stock, and for HLJ there is a difference.

Getting replacement parts for a current production kit is generally cheap and easy. You can get them from Tamiya, HLJ, Rainbow10, and possibly others. I doubt it would cost you much more than $10USD. When I've ordered replacements through HLJ, it certainly didn't require much time or effort.
