Differences between trim models

Hey. Me and a couple of my buddies kinda have fetishes on the later model Regals and other GM grandma cars with the 3800 powerplant. My two buddies both have 2000ish regal LS's. I know that some of the GS's are supercharged but one of my friends told me all of them are, but I don't think so. Also the GSE is basically a supercharged GS with upgraded suspension right? We talk about this stuff all the time. We would just like someone to break down the differences between the trim models. Thanks for the info.

Re: Differences between trim models

All '97 - '04 Regal GS/GSE models have the L67 SII 3800 VIN '1" engine meaning with supercharger.

The GSE has the Grand Touring suspension standard whereas it was an option on the GS and supposedly the GSE following extra features:

Chromed aluminum wheels
Power sunroof with retractable shade
Premium Monsoon audio system
Leather-trimmed interior in Medium Gray, Taupe, or Graphite
Exterior color choices: Bright White, Jasper Green
Pearl, Black, or Bordeaux Red
Six-way power passenger's seat

Re: Differences between trim models

Mine is a 97 GS. Second Edition...(AKA Late year production)..Even though I didnt buy mine new. The original bill said Grand Touring came standard. Is it true that Grand Touring is only an upgrade in tire and rim size? Also I think there is a Regal 25? It is 25th Anni. edition.

Re: Differences between trim models

You're welcome. Actually it is hard to keep track of and know the various options and packages that were available for '97 and up Regals. The latest Regal started life out as a 1997.5 model. I can't speak for any older Regal GS models but I have the Grand Touring suspension package stock. The rule of thumb is any Regal either LS or GS model that came from the factory with the 16" aluminum or chromed alloy wheels and Goodyear Eagle P225/60-R16 tires has the Grand Touring package. The GT package has stiffer strut coil springs, specially valved premium gas charged struts and bigger stabilize/sway bars. Suspension is still too soft and mediocre handling compared to the Pontiac Grand Prix GT/GTP models but great for highway cruising. Here is a copy of the specs from my 2001 brochure.
