Another SMG question :)

So yes the SMG is fun, Yes the manual is fun, yes its really just a preference.. but! when you put after market parts into, supercharge/turbo it.. does the SMG give that same sweet hiss the manual does when shifting? Im curious!

Re: Another SMG question :)

That hiss has nothing to do with the transmission on a turbo. Its the blow off valve used to manipulate the movment of excess boost pressure when a throttle body is closed. On a supercharger, I'm not sure of any hiss, I would think you mean the whine. Thats blower whine from the belt turning the pulley.

Re: Another SMG question :)

Yeah I have an SMG on my M3 and its amazing. I cant go back into a normal manual. It shouldn't effect any of the aftermarket mods you throw on. DEFINATELY STICK WITH SMG!!!!

By the way -- check out this BMW store for some cool parts to upgrade your M3. I put on a surge performance chip and it really helped out my car.

Re: Another SMG question :)

same exact tranny in the SMG as the manual. the noise is probably supercharger you are refurring too or a turbo-charged car. it is not many turbo charged M3's around due to the high compression pistons in the inline 6-cyl. Though few have done the turbo charging route.
