SRS Airbag question

Hi, I have a 1991 Olds Ninety-eight that my son rear-ended another car with, damaging the front end and triggering the air bag. I want to do whatever I can myself repair wise, and have a question about the airbag. If I get the
airbag / steering wheel part at a salvage yard, do I need to change out the ECM and the various SRS components as well because the bag deployed? What I mean is, are the SRS sensors/ECM still functional after a deployment?

Thanks,
Ed

Re: SRS Airbag question

You will need the forward arming sensor and the air bag deployment module also. Careful with this during your repair process!

I see in my service guide where the forward arming sensor is, which is under the hood latch behind the grille. What you call the air bag deployment module is what I'm assuming is the ECM for the airbag, which is behind the instrument panel. Thanks for the reply, the service guide is a little vague on what HAS to be changed after a deployment.
