1994 0lds 88 no power taking off

hay guys i got a 94 88 royale 4dr sedan and this thing has little power taking off , what could it be i figured it could be in need of a tune up but the wires look decent and i havent checked the plugs the trany seems 2 shift fine no hard shifts at all it is allmost unoticed when it shifts so im not sure what it is . IN EXAMPLE I COULD MASH THE GAS AT A DEAD STOP THE TIRES WONT EVEN SCREETCH IT TAKES ITS TIME SEEMS LIKE AND TO ADD THERE IS NO HESITATION OR CUTTIN OUT WHILE IM DRIVING

How long of a time are we talking about here?

If were talking about a long time, it could be that your first gear isn't working. With your pedal all the way down, you should feel a shift at around 35-45 mph. That would be the 1st-2nd shift. If the first shift you feel is around 50-60 with the pedal all the way down, then that would be the 2nd-3rd shift.

I'm no expert, but I've got the same car and that's been my experience with it. I've had it where my 1st gear stopped working for awhile, but it started to work after I parked it for 15 minutes or so.

Also, how many miles are on the car?

My car did this too. Say year, but I have the LSS, which isn't much different mechanically wise...if at all. Check the EGR valve. I changed mine and it was fine.

First determine if the trans is starting in 1st and not in default 3rd gear, a road test by a tech or a trans scan will reveal this.

ok so u r sayin the car starts in 3rd default instead of 1st whats the reason for that ? also the trany fluid does smell kinda burnt but has kinda a gassy smell and some one said it smells kinda like paint thinner also to mention there is still no check engine light and the check engine light does work and do u think a mechanics shop tranny flush would do me any justice

I tranny flush might help out, but if the transmission has a problem, the flush would probably only be a temp fix for a much bigger problem. You'd be better off to have a transmission shop check it out and make sure there isn't any major problems.

ok this reply is for maxwedge ok there are 2 different solenoids in the tranny 1 is the tccp and the other is tcc whats the difference in them and which one do u think i might need and can i look at them and tell if they r bad lastly how do i go about taking that side pan off the tranny it seems difficult

Only a scanner will tell if the pcm commands the solenoids on, even if they audibly click during a continuity test they still could be bad, yes these are not easy to get to in a home garage. Axle out, subframe dropped, messy job for sure. It is also possible there is no power to the connector, check that first at the outside main plug.

1st of man i really appreciate your help with this, anyways i see how much of a pain it could b i allmost got the pan off but i had no axle bolt socket and how do u get that lowerer control arm screw lose i beat on it wit a hammer and stil wont budge i got that upper tie rod screw off no problem. And the connector that u r talkin about is the one above the tranny and it sits toward the front i pulled that while the car was running and the check eng light came on so that sensor is working , my only hope is this solenoid once the pan is off the solenoid sit out or something else has to be removed

Let the wheel hang down do you mean the lower ball joint nut. If so with the wheel hanging, jack just under it, for safety, hit the knuckle at the ball joint area hard with a baby sledge. For pics go to autozone.com, repair guides. I don't know why you are doing this without a diagnosis, you still do not know what is wrong and you will not see anything once it is apart,!
