Po300, Po385, And Po1372 Error Codes For A 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Help

Failed The Emmisions Test And Returned The Above Codes.

Local Dealer Wants $600 To Fix It.

Can These Errors Be Repaired By A Non-pro Mechanic?

Thanks

Re: Po300, Po385, And Po1372 Error Codes For A 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Welcome to AF, not possible for us to determine your skill level, required tools/equipment and access to tech info. These codes point to a random misfire, and possible crank sensor problem or circuitry for the cps. Many things can cause 0300, tune up, low fuel pressure, dirty injectors, whether there are operational symptoms to go along with the codes is another unanswered question. What was the exact diagnosis you recieved, post this and maybe we can give better advice. As you can see the the question is way too general.

Did you fail the test simply because the Service Engine Soon light was on? Or did it actually fail the emissions portion. I know a lot of states will fail you simply if the light is on.

I think the crankshaft position sensor shouldnt be too hard to replace. After that, I would clear the codes, and drive around a bit to see if that misfire code comes back. I had that same code, and it turned out to be a fluke, and has yet to return.

Re: Po300, Po385, And Po1372 Error Codes For A 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Alright, heres what I believe is taking place:

First thing in the morning when I start the car, it idles normally until the engine temp rises slightly towards operating temp (the first line on the dashboard temperature indicator.) At that point the motor sputters for a few seconds, before resuming normal rpms. This takes place every single morning I start the car up. I can keep if from stalling if I just let it sit in the driveway, giving it alittle gas as it warms up. After that, even if it does stall, it will start right up again and not stall or have any further issues throughout the day. There are no other notable symtoms except the "check engine" and "service engine soon" lights are always on.

It is my understanding that the P0385 and the 1372 Codes are related to the Crankshaft Position Sensor. I believe it could be that the sensor needs to be replaced. I am a motorcycle tech. and have worked on bikes for some time. I believe I have all the standard tools I would probably need to replace it, and can probably get ahold of whatever else i need. I think that if we get that fixed and clear the codes, it will also fix the 0300.

This is just my guess on the matter, please advise!

Ok clearer picture here, usually ther cps will not act as you describe, but since they can be troublesome and it is not expensive go for it, also check the harness from the cps to the icm for cuts or frays.
