Bad Light Switch?????

Hi all it has been a while since I have be here (good thing I know) but this weekend I was hooking up a light harness to pull a trailer with my 2002 Grand Prix GT. As you could imagine I was constantly using the directional the light switch etc. and when everything looked good I closed it all up and went to open the door and the reminder chime was going off like I left the lights on. I tried to turn the headlight switch on and off and it didn't change anything. So thinking it may be the light switch I figure I would disconnect the switch and the chime will stop but it didn't, also if the door is closed the chime goes off. I unhooked everything to see if that was doing it and it didn't help.

Other symptoms that started-

1.You can not turn on the lights with the dash switch.

2.The lights would flash when you used the FOB now they don't.

3. Fog lights do not work.

4. Dash lights do not work with switch or when they come on automatically.

5. When the car running and door closed.

Any feedback would be appreciated,
Jeff

Re: Bad Light Switch?????

Thanks, I tried to get one this morning but they didn't have one in stock, the owners manual stated I may have to make some changes but not what. I thought worse case scenario would be the turn signals just wouldn't flash.

Wanted to update one of the scenarios, when I turn on the light switch the headlights come on but not the rear tail lights, the marker lights or the dash lights.

Since they don't work manually, I'd suspect the in-dash headlamp switch. There are relays that control the auto functions and foglamps that you may want to check also.

Re: Bad Light Switch?????

Thanks Rich, I was going to take the switch out of the wife's GP but I thought I should check the fuses one more time....I checked all the fuses you WOULD think control that but it wasn't any of those. So I pulled every fuse in the engine compartment and found one that was blown.
I can't remember what it was labeled but you wouldn't think it controls what it did.
