Angry subs popping/offset lights up

i need some mad help here. i just put in a lanzar sl800d amp, and i already had a sony xm-752eqx in. i have the gains set low, but at random intervals the subs make a popping noise, even when the volume is really low. eventually after one of the numerous times it pops, the offset light turns red on the sony amp(not the amp running the subs).. then the fullrange speakers shut off, but the subs keep working.

whats causing it??

is any of your speaker leads touching, maybe at the back of the radio? i had that problem before and my amp was cutting out/went into safe mode...

naa i dont think so. they were properly crimped and capped. i found the sony manual, and it says if it goes into offset mode, to turn off the amp and check the speaker wire and ground lead.
i put my old pos jensen amp back in, and it doesnt pop anymore. im too lazy to check now, but if i used the same spot to ground both amps, is it possible that with the higher power lanzar running, i need a separate ground for each amp?
i dont understand why the sony amp, thats not running the subs, could cause them to pop. and throughout the whole time when the subs are popping and the sony amp turns off, the lanzar amp never did.
