Headlights never shut off

My 1996 88 LS has headlights that turn on and off automatically. They now will not shut off during daylight until I turn the ignition off. Instrument lights are also on. Has my twilight sentinel photocell on right side of defroster grill gone bad?

Mine went bad and had to be replaced but the symptoms were opposite to yours. With mine it had to too dark out before the lights would come on. Have you tried to fool it with a bright flashlight?

Oldsmobile actually had a recall for that problem.

No I haven't tried to fool it. I called my local GM dealer's parts department and was told the part was $70 to replace the sensor though.

Re: Headlights never shut off

I guess since the car is 11 years old, the recall wouldn't apply for covered warranty work right?
