Cool Dug up old project to finish: California Bug

Hey guys. I dug up one of my projects thats older than any I've posted before. This one is about 4 years old. I wanted to to a California style bug when I saw this kit at a local Wal-Mart. Its a re-released item from Revell. I don't see too many around any more. They're crappy kits. I think they were originally released in the early eighties.

I painted this in a custom mix of chrome silver , metallic blue, and a bit of yellow to get that frosty mint green color that you see. A blue pearl powder was also mixed in. The wheels and headlights are taken from a Fujimi Porsche Carrera kit. The model was lowered and bumpers were modified a bit to clean up the appearance. The wheels and some of the chrome parts were painted in Alclad chrome. Bare metal foil was used to do some interior trim pieces and the tailpipes are copper wrapped with BMF.

I gotta finish this one now since I pulled it out. Might have to make new windows because the original ones don't fit too well.

Let me what you guys think. Its a bit different from all the Japanese kits I've done lately.

Here's a shot of the gauge panel:

Looking very nice in that green color.
I have one to build too but I didn't decided in which color yet.
I saw on TV Bug with similar color and it's very nice.

Wow, that's neat, my neighbor has a car just like it, the rims look the same, except it's yellow, looks like a good project!

Thatīs a nice California Bug (they are called "Cal Looker" in Germany). I always wanted to build one, but I have enough unbuild models at home. My girlfriend will kill me if I buy more
